Myriam is a life improviser, a dancer and a community gatherer. She enjoys contributing to Nanaimo’s culture and fun through performing, organizing or supporting creative events. She also teaches compassionate communication and is the mom of a wonderful 4-year-old.

Crimson Coast Dance is pleased to partner with Nanaimo Association for Community Living (NACL) in providing monthly movement practice opportunities for adults of mixed-abilities in the Mid-Island region.  These inclusive classes are designed to offer a unique dance experience for those with cognitive and/or physical challenges as well as friends, family and community.

As part of our mission to offer creative, recreational, movement based activities for the regional community, we have begun to take initiatives for improved inclusivity within the organization’s annual programming.

These monthly Dance Jam sessions are fully accessible dance classes for adults of all abilities.  They are taught by Myriam Verzat, a French born Nanaimo resident who champions many dance related events in Nanaimo.

Crimson Coast Dance is passionate about sharing the health benefits and joy of dance with every-body of every-ability in our community!

Your facilitator is Myriam Verzat. She is a Mixed Ability Dance Jam instructor, Compassionate Communication (NVC) Trainer and Facilitator.

Passionate about multi-disciplinary improvisation, she practiced many different forms of improvisation such as action theatre, contemporary and contact dance improvisation, vocal improvisation, playback theatre, physical theatre, theatre of the oppressed, mime and Open Source Forms.

With all those tools, she created her own improvisation and research group (Lindex) that developed a unique vocabulary using the body, the words and music to create meaningful and authentic improvisations.

For the last 10 years, Myriam has taught dance improvisation classes to all kinds of audiences, including children, multi-generational groups and adults with mixed abilities.

In these times of COVID, Myriam continues her work through online facilitation using Zoom.

Myriam Verzat, Mixed Abilities Dance Jam instructor, Compassionate Communication (NVC) Trainer, Facilitator and NVC camp coordinator,
